TGIS - Thank Goodness It's Spring Ride

Let's hope for sunshine for this years Thank Goodness It's Spring (T.G.I.S.) ride. We have some great stops, beautiful scenery and fun venues. Our ride on Saturday, May 19th will be 49 miles and Sunday, May 20th mileage is 56 miles.

The start is in the parking lot of the Springville Catholic Church of Isador at 603 6th St. (next to Caseys). Be ready to roll at 9:15 A.M. Our first rest stop is Waubeek at F B & Co. Here you will experience peaceful river views and refreshments. Prairie Moon Bar and Grill in Prairieburg is the lunch stop. The sandwich and salad lunch with tea or lemonade is included in your registration fee. Other beverages can be purchased on your own.

We will be staying at the Manchester Days Inn, 1220 W. Marion St., 563-927-1011. We have reserved non-smoking rooms that must be reserved by May 2nd. Mention Bicyclists of Iowa City to receive the rate of single queen bed, $71.55 and double queen bed, $76.60. MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS BY MAY 2nd to receive the BIC rate.

Grumpy Bill's, 121S. Franklin St. will host our Happy Hour. Heavy appetizers, craft beer and wine are included in your registration fee. From Grumpy Bill's deck you can see The Manchester White Water Park and can watch kayaks run the rapids. This is a man made white water run for kayaks, canoes, tubes & for fishing on the Maquoketa River. To see more action use the paved bike/walkway along the river following the 6 features. Each feature offers paddling options at varying water flows for multiple skill levels. If you want to participate go to https://www.manchester-ia.org/whitewater-park/. A gazebo and flower gardens are all part of the Riverfront Park and Gazebo. Save time to explore this venue.

Dinner will be on your own. You can choose from many close restaurants including the Franklin Brewery Co., across from the Riverfront Park and Gazebo and Grumpy Bill's.

The Days Inn includes breakfast on Sunday. Our 8:30 AM sharp start will take us thru Delaware, Hopkinton, Anamosa, Stone City and back to Springville. Lunch is on your own at Anamosa or Stone City. The last rest stop is the General Store at Stone City where you can see a Grant Wood painting, order full meals or just beverages and also join in with the open mic entertainment. Bring your lights if you want to stay awhile! The General Store is open till 11:00 PM.

This is a supported ride with rest stops where water and snacks are provided. Your luggage will be transported to the Days Inn. Please pack one soft side duffle bag. The cost will be $33.00 each for BIC members; $43 for non-members. Registration ends on May 15th @ midnight.  A fee of $10.00 will apply if the rider cancels after midnight May 15th.
